E-Reader Cover A

For 7" ereaders (ie Kindle touch)

Difficulty: Beginner
Yarn: Medium (4) weight in color(s) of choice.  (note: one 5 oz ball will make several covers). 
Hook: H8 (5.00mm)
Notions: 1 button, needle, thread
Stiches needed: Single crochet

***NOTE** All stitches are worked through both loops throughout.

Ch 55 (appro. 16") with main color (MC)

Row 1: SC in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across (54 sc)

Row 2: Ch 1, turn.  SC in each stitch across 

Create striped pattern, if you wish.
Repeat row 2, working in a striped pattern of your choice, until liece measures 5 1/2 inches.  

Finish off. 

5 1/2" x 16" at this point










Edging

Trim
Join Contrasting color (CC) to one of the short edges. 
Row 1: Sc 21 stitches evenly across edge.

Row 2: Ch 1, turn. Sc in each stitch across.  
Finish off

Join CC to the other of the short edges.  
Row 1: SC 21 stitches evenly across edge/

Edging with button hole
Row 2: Ch 1, turn, SC in first 10 stitches, then ch 3, skip next SC, SC in last 10 stitches (ch-3 becomes button hole)

Row 3: Ch1, turn, SC in next 10 SC, sc in ch-3 space, and sc in last 10 sc.    
(At this point, you can add any edging you would like (ie picot) or finish off at the end of row 3).

Finish off


Assembly
Folding
Fold with right sides together to form a 7 1/2" pocket.  Stitch edges together, matching stitches and sewing through both loops of each layer. 

Turn inside right.


Finishing: 
Position and attach button using needle and thread.
